US Open Tennis Tickets Hot After Announcement That Roger Federer Will Lead Men’s Tennis Field

Tennis fans are likely still celebrating Federer’s tight victory at Wimbledon over U.K. native Andy Murray, and the United States Tennis Association has recently announced that Federer will lead the men’s field for the 2012 U.S. Tennis Open. Federer will be joined by other tennis superstars this year such as Andy Riddick, defending champion Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Juan Martin Del Potro, among others. In total,   101 male tennis players from 37 countries around the world will compete for tennis glory at the U.S. Open beginning August 27th, 2012. Headline Tickets Now still has US open tennis tickets available leading up to the major global event.

Although Federer certainly seems to be at the top of his game this year (setting the record recently for most weeks at number one in ATP rankings — 287 weeks), but he’ll still face some stiff competition at the championship against a defending US Open champion in Novak Djokovic, and Grand Slam single winner Juan Carlos Ferrero. Rafael Nadal will also be looking for revenge after narrowly dropping to Djokovic in the 2011 US Open Tennis Championship final.

There are few surprises for US Open Tennis tickets holders paying attention to the women’s side either. Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, and Maria Sharapova will compete for the $1.9 million singles prize package available this year at the tournament. But for fans of Kim Clijsters, the event is bittersweet. US Open Tennis tickets will likely net fans their last chance to see Clijsters play competitive tennis, as the star has announced that she will retire after this year. But leading the women’s field this year will be the dominant Victoria Azarenka, who recently captured her first Grand Slam with a 2012 Australian Open victory.
